As the author of this manuscript from 1683 notes: "Almost everything here is new." And it remains so despite the passage of time. In other words, these are succinct, yet truly engaging and curious inventions that, over the centuries, have not yet been fully deciphered. This book contains many secrets, revealed just like that, in summary form, but which could take years for the neophyte to discover for themselves. It particularly emphasizes the materials extracted from the body itself, from blood or urine, to create small Suns or perpetual luminaries. And it doesn't fail to examine a material with which we have extensive experience—and which I will discuss at length in my latest book, Concerning Potable Gold—with which, along with gold, it creates an extraordinary medicine.
